Well done for PDSA: Professional Diving Schools Association Malta and the Malta Tourism Authority for co-ordinating the placing of special marker buoys indicating the presence of wrecks for Mariners. Only one is left to be placed (Cominoland) which will be sorted in the coming days.
Special reminder to mariners and pleasure boat owners, charters or rentals operators. As per NTM 42 and 48 of 2017, you need to keep at least 100m away from these buoys and navigate slowly in the surrounding area.
Every year, there are reports of near misses, eapecially at the TUG2 in front of Exiles. Reminder as well that freedivers dive these wrecks too, so stay away from diver bouys too! Hefty fines may apply, but also remember that close shaves / injuring / killing a person will bring grief for everyone and potential criminal prosecution and civil litigation.
