A turtle nest was discovered this morning at Ramla l-Ħamra in Gozo, the largest sandy beach in Gozo and a site where practically on a yearly basis, nests are discovered.
Keep an eye out dear divers whilst out and around, report any sighting to Nature Trust (and if you have a nice pic, we’re happy to publish) but don’t shine lights at turtles, or disturb them in any remote manner. If you’re on the beach decompressing with beer and wine, a turtle coming up it’s not coming for its share but to do some more slightly important things, like lay eggs :).
Ideally, don’t create obstacles like half-burying & leaving your drunken buddy in the sand, nor dig a trench or bomb crater more suited to the Ukraine war then an idyllic beach in the Mediterranean. Play with your castles as much as you want but flatten down your pieces of art before you leave the beach. You’ve also all participated in a cleanup here or there… so we’re pretty sure you’ll not forget your rubbish behind too!
