New Hyperbaric Chamber inaugurated at Gozo General Hospital

The Gozo General Hospital has now been fitted with a 6-person Hyperbaric Chamber to be used for diver treatment and other medical and training needs on the second largest island in the Maltese Archipelago. This replaces a 1 person chamber that has served the island well since 2008 and complements the other two chambers at the Mater Dei General Hospital in Malta.

Posts by various government officials indicate that this chamber was funded via Eco-contributions paid in by visiting tourists (50c per night spent).

Thanks to all those involved in this upgrade which further reinforces the positive point of relative safety for diving in Malta, where you can have access to a hyperbaric chamber within less than an hour from all shore diving sites.

We augur well for this chamber to be mainly used for non-diver treatment, so plan your dives, and dive the plan 🙂 .
