Dolphins in the Malta-Gozo Channel are not a rarity, and although many sightings, including ones at the Ċirkewwa Marine Park, do not hit the news, this one did.
Timesofmalta.com reports that passengers on the Gozo Ferry were delighted last Sunday by a pod of four dolphins that swam alongside the ferry before berthing in Ċirkewwa. This is a few hundred metres away from the confines of the Ċirkewwa Marine Park.
The same site is very close (or the same), where ghost nets were recovered last year by the NGO Żibel.

Dolphins were very recently also sighted close to the Um el Faroud wreck further south at Wied iz-Zurrieq.
