The Civil Protection Department announced on 24 June 2026 that it carried out a rescue operation for a diver who found himself in difficulties near Għar ir-Riħ (Cathedral Cavern) in Gozo
This afternoon, rescuers from fire stations 6 and 7 responded to a diver who found himself in difficulty and was unable to return safely to land due to rough sea conditions near Għar ir-Riħ, Żebbuġ, Gozo.
The casualty was safely rescued and transported to Gozo General Hospital for further treatment.
