The Malta Police Force announced today that sadly a diver died at Dwejra, Gozo. The cause or reason for the incident was not provided in the press release by the Police. A photo on social media indicated that the diver was brought in at the inland sea dive site, where paramedics attempted to assist the diver.
A 44-year-old Swiss woman unfortunately lost her life while diving at Dwejra this morning, in the limits of San Lawrenz, Gozo.
At about twenty past ten (1020 hrs), the Police were informed that assistance was needed at Dwejra Bay.
The Police went immediately on site together with a medical team from the Gozo General Hospital where they found the diver on the ground after she was pulled ashore by some people who were with her. Despite the medical assistance she was given, unfortunately she died shortly afterwards on site.
The Police investigations are ongoing, while an inquiry has been appointed by Magistrate Dr Simone Grech LL. D.
