Another tool to help you discover Malta and Gozo’s diving sites.
Divinginfo.mt recently met up virtually with the Polish creator of this app and held an interesting discussion about this project, which like us is a volunteer-led project started off with the love for diving, rather than commercial interests.
Divemap.io is an interesting platform that is collating information about diving sites in a slick interface which includes location, dive site history and marine life, weather data, safety aspects, local news about the site and more.
Such information is ideal for the local diver or a tourist planning a visit to a new country, and help them get to know better alternative dive sites nearby and assess water and weather conditions.
The creator described that inclusion of Maltese diving sites was a natural thing to do for him due to his multiple visits to Malta & Gozo for their warm water diving and abundance of wreck diving opportunities, just a short hop away from mainland Europe. Furthermore, data & material about local diving sites is readily available through various sources which are also acknowledged by the site.
Divemap.io so far covers four different countries which apart from Malta also includes Poland, Hungary and Czechia, and which in the future will increase further.
Visit the app at Divemap.io . Further updates may also be seen through the project’s Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/divemapio.
We thank the divemap.io creator for their effort and time to include Malta’s diving sites and we look forward to collaborate further.
