Another of my ‘adventures’ was the organising of the recovery of a Daimler Benz 601 aircraft engine from an underwater crash site of a Messerschmitt Bf109 off Bahar ic-Caghaq, some years back.
Needless to say, friends of mine from the scuba-diving fraternity were much involved in this recovery, mainly Raniero Borg and Roy Bugeja who were instrumental in lifting the engine off the seabed by means of a lifting bag. Thanks are also due to Leslie Storace and Tug Malta, without whose help this operation would have been more difficult.
