Today Infrastructure Malta announced roadworks in the last couple of kilometres before arriving to the Ċirkewwa Marine Park.
The works appear to intend to widen / remove bottlenecks for vehicles heading north to the Ferry Terminal. This will no doubt also affect divers heading for the Ferry. Infrastructure Malta’s statement states that works should be finished before next summer, though if they plan that to be 21 June is yet to be seen as past experience with such roadworks is not exactly encouraging!
Infrastructure Malta announces the commencement of an infrastructural project aimed at facilitating and enhancing travel to the #Ċirkewwa Terminal.

This will be achieved by introducing an additional, continuous lane dedicated to vehicles heading to #Gozo from the #Armier roundabout towards the Ċirkewwa Terminal.
The planned works are to be completed before the start of the coming summer season. Infrastructure Malta encourages drivers to plan their route in advance and suggests these alternative routes.
As divinginfo.mt we have also sent today the following questions to Infrastructure Malta:
- Will the works retain the access for divers to the Cirkewwa Marine Park?
- During the works, will vehicles heading towards the diving site be allowed to bypass ferry queues, in the same way as normally is done for public transport?
- Are there any works planned in the immediate vicinity of the dive site (i.e. from Paradise Bay Hotel onwards) that will change traffic flow or parking areas?
- Are plans publicly available to inform better on planned works?
- Will divers be able to drive to and head for boarding on to diving support vessels from the South Quay (and in south/easterly wind situations), from the North Quay (Comino ferries landing zones)?
We will keep you updated if we receive any feedback.
