Nature Trust Wildlife Rescue Team wishes to thank Darshton and Andrew, who whilst on a fishing boat found a turtle with hook and line in mouth this morning. We wish to thank them immensely for keeping the turtle safe whilst bringing it in, and for not trying to remove the fishing line themselves.
The juvenile, roughly 8 year old loggerhead turtle was kindly collected by Transport Malta Maritime Enforcement dinghy. This was a joint operation also with ERA enforcement .
The turtle was called Betty Boo by TM officials. NTM Wildlife Rescue has now taken the turtle to the VET for the removal of the hook.
