The Armed Forces of Malta carry out Fisheries Enforcement and provide rescue services to divers in distress around the islands using marine and aerial assets. Throughout the years their contribution has saved many divers from harm.
Their Maritime Squadron is able to reach any site around the Maltese Islands within 15-30 minutes depending on the sea conditions. A similar timeframe can be achieved with its helicopters which are fully kitted for marine rescue and manned with highly trained rescuers. Whilst they risk their life & limb to come to your rescue when needed, the biggest token of respect we can give them is not to have to call them and dive as safely as possible!
Furthermore, through their Explosives and Ordinance Disposal Team (EOD), they recover and safely dispose of explosive material located on and off-shore within the Maltese Islands. This team also includes a component of military search & rescue divers.
