The Malta Police Force announced today that a 54 year old German diver whilst diving at Dwejra, Gozo. No immediate information has been shared as to the cause of death. Video shared on local social media website LovinMalta indicates the person was brought to shore in the vicinity of the Blue Hole at Dwejra.
A 54-year-old German woman has unfortunately lost her life while diving in Dwejra, in the limits of San Lawrenz, Gozo. The incident occurred at around 1230hrs.
The Police immediately went to the scene together with a medical team from the Gozo General Hospital as well as a member of the Civil Protection and the Armed Forces of Malta where they found the diver on land after she was pulled out by some people who were on the scene.
Despite the medical assistance that was given, she was unfortunately certified dead.
Magistrate Dr Simone Grech LL.D was informed of the case and an inquiry was opened, while investigations by the Police are still ongoing.
