Local media has announced the death of a 48-year-old Ukrainian diver dies following a dive in Sliema, Malta. We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the diver.
No police statement was issued, which could be possibly due to to the diver suffering a medical issue (as reported by some news portals) which we are aware sometimes leads the Malta Police Force not to issue any press releases if this is immediately known.
Media outlets stated the diver was diving with his wife and had been living in Malta for several years.
This area of Sliema is renowned for the Tug2 Artificial Wreck (scuttled in 2013) and the Exiles Reef dive sites which are both accessible from shore and considered to be moderately easy dives, with a normal maximum of 21 m depth.
